WENATCHEE — Our Valley Our Future is launching Wenatchee Valley 101, a new event series
designed for residents who have lived in the area for less than five years. The first event, focused on
outdoor recreation opportunities, will take place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on April 25 at The Hilton
Garden Inn in Wenatchee. Registration is $10 per person at WV101Outdoors.eventbrite.com, with
more details available at OurValleyOurFuture.org/wenatchee-valley-101. Space is limited.
Co-hosted by the City of Wenatchee, TREAD, Goodfellow Bros. LLC, and Wenatchee Valley Chamber
of Commerce, the Wenatchee Valley 101 series aims to help new residents learn about the
community’s history, services, and amenities while fostering connections and engagement. Each
event will offer time to socialize over appetizers, adult beverages, and nonalcoholic drinks.
The plan is to hold a Wenatchee Valley 101 event two to three times a year, with future topics
potentially covering healthcare, arts and culture, wildfire preparedness, the fruit industry, parks, land
use, government services, education, community events, and sustainability.
“When people move to the Wenatchee Valley, they may be unaware of our roots, how this place
grew to be what it is today, and our community norms,” said Steve Maher, OVOF coordinator. “It’s
not always clear, either, about how new residents can get involved with a nonprofit group or a
community group or otherwise volunteer.”
Spanish interpretation is available at Wenatchee Valley 101 upon request during registration.
Our Valley Our Future (OVOF) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that conducts community
outreach, visioning and planning work, and guides the development of a community-generated
